Billy Biznizz

Musical Director

Biography

Since the 1980’s, Billy Biznizz has developed a name as a leading UK based DJ at the forefront of his field. Initially embarking on his professional career as a DJ with the legendary UK Rap group The London Posse, touring the UK and Europe, he then went on to DJ for the UK's first female Rap group, The Cookie Crew. He has supporting bands such as De La Soul, N.W.A, Public Enemy, House of Pain, Roy Ayres and The Jungle Brothers to name a few.

Billie was also the DJ for Caveman who again received great chart success along with the Cookie Crew with his version of Jimi Hendrix's "cross town traffic".

After firmly establishing himself within the UK Hip Hop world, he became the mix-DJ for The Capitol Rap Show hosted by Tim Westwood. Following several years of success, the show was moved to Radio One, with DJ Biznizz in his mix-DJ position on board for another year. Billie has also worked for many years with DJ Pogo (the DJ for world renowned saxophonist Courtney Pine). Biznizz acted as DJ to Courtney Pine for performances that DJ Pogo could not attend.

DJ Biznizz is also a music producer, producing the Cookie Crew, Caveman and the London Posse, as well as doing remix work for House of Pain, N.W.A, Jade, 4Hero and Mark Morrison. DJ Biznizz went on to release three EPs and an LP with his own group the PD3 with artists Mysterious K, Dego from 4Hero along side DJ Biznizz himself. Their LP "Does anybody really now what time it is?" Was very well received, especially in Japan, where its sales were quite extensive.

In 1999 DJ Biznizz, DJ Pogo and DJ Cutmaster Swift, collectively known as The EN4CERS, entered and won The DMC UK TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS. A competition where 2 or more DJ's combine their talents collectively to perform a 6-minute show piece. The crew have been touring and performing at DJ events and competitions such as The DMC World Championships, The Vestax World Championship and the All-Star Beatdown.

Currently DJ Biznizz and his crew the EN4CERS are working on their first solo LP and constantly trying to inject new innovation into their art form which they call Turntablism. DJ Biznizz has also hosted the DMC heats and finals throughout the U.K. since 1998 alongside his DJ partner Cutmaster Swift.

Besides all this Biznizz has been touring with solo artist TY with his solo album "Awkward" and is also a resident DJ as well as host at SCRATCH a monthly Hip Hop night at the club FABRIC.

Around 1995, Biznizz was introduced to the talents of choreographer Jonzi D and his Hip Hop theatre. Alongside "Lyrikal Fearta" events with Jonzi, DJ Biznizz would also perform at Jonzi's live talent showcase The Apricot Jam. The Apricot Jam is a club with a live band supporting the guest DJ's, rappers and singers with poets.

From this introduction to the world of dance Billie has since collaborated with Jonzi D (Lyrikal Fearta and Aeroplane Man) Claire Missingham (Generation Vex) which toured nationally and internationally and several productions with Robert Hylton Urban Classicism where he performs live on stage as a DJ and dancer performer.
