Swan Breaks

  • A Dance Story of love and betrayal between the natural world, humans and technology, Swan Breaks is an adaptation of ballet classic Swan Lake. Hylton is the modern day Siegfried, bored with the same attention-seeking women he searches for his perfect virtual beauty. Hooked with his lust for Odette, he is dragged into a downward spiral of addictive love, masterminded by Rothbart. Who is she, Odette or Odile, a man made fantasy. Is this computer love gone wrong with the potential for reality in personal relationships present and future?

Fresh ‘A spaghetti and fried chicken western’

  • Inspired by the classic Spaghetti Western film genre, trainer and hip hop culture, Fresh reflects the journey of the soul through the sole.. The sole of the feet that is!

    Directed by Robert Hylton by a collaboration between ABC, Australia Council for the Arts, Channel 4 and Arts Council England, and is produced by MJW Productions, with Circe Films Australia.

Verse&Verse's

  • A visually arresting production with 5 performers, fusing contemporary and street dance with Robert Hylton’s unique vision. Collaborators are DJ/producer Billy Biznizz (soundscapes and music) and award-winning guest choreographer Pervez (Live2Break)

    Verse&Verse's is a psychedelic take on the hip hop genre with leading design team AllofUS providing their signature backdrop visuals. Atmospherically charged, the concept veers towards the cinematic as a DJ opens the show, selecting his latest hot tune.

    As the proverbial needle hits the groove the audience gets set for a unique experience as unbeknown to them, this is vinyl literally about to explode into life.

Verse

  • An improvised solo by Robert Hylton,fusing popping and contemporary dance.

    Setting the pace for "Verse" is DJ/Producer Billy Biznizz performing live with his two turntables. He creates a soundscape with hip hop beats, hard rock guitar riffs and vocal harmonies.

    Surfacing the edge of abstraction both performers seek to reinvent their separate forms whilst pushing boundaries and redefining the possibilities of hip op based theatre in this bold and visionary work.

Two Sugars with my Hip Hop Please…

  • (Short film) Retired Residents from Phillip House in Kilburn London (a part of the Central and Cecil Housing Trust) worked with Robert Hylton and collaborators Billy Biznizz and Curtis James. The resulting work is a wry and humorous film that pokes fun at the serious side of the hip hop dance genre in a relaxed and heart-warming atmosphere created by the cast of 15 elders..

Landscapes

  • Landscapes investigates the landscapes of inter personal relationships. The theme of this piece is modern languages, spoken and physical, danced by two men and one woman. The visual design is from leading graphics team AllofUs. Choreography by Robert Hylton, with additional choreography by the company.

    As society evolves through different influences our use of language constantly changes. Landscapes' is a satirical comment on the future, how we are known and who we have been. It also represents the possibilities of togetherness and harmony

Jaffaman

  • The Jaffaman is a futurist dance travelogue of one b-boy's journey to keep on 'dancing' through the mean streets of life. Shot in a supa-fly style that fuses late 70s New York with today's London, the film features a searing soundtrack from Hip Hop don, DJ Billy Biznizz.

    Choreographer Robert Hylton is the lead man whose fancy footwork saves his soul from the devil and loses his heart to true love. The Jaffaman is a powerful and uplifting antidote to the crushing anonymity of crazy modern life.

Innocence

  • Solo by Robert Hylton, Innocence takes you to a parallel world the year is 1984 and Hip-Hop has begun to flourish and feed the universe. The Hip-Hop Nation has spread the words of peace, love and unity, globally. Kids, adults, dogs and cats are all tuned in to the four elements. Slowly the world is turning into a better place…

    A storey of ego transpired through culture. To be part of a culture you should represent the culture; the ego represents itself and eventually parts from the culture. We begin with "Innocence", a devised solo work, portraying a time when Hip-Hop is made illegal and "the mere whiff of sub culture” means a prison sentence, Dizzi battles sustaining all glory past and future, when he finds himself finally trapped, but in reality imprisonment has a different roll.

Urban Voodoo

  • Urban Voodoo is about a DJ wizard who transmits Hip Hop tunes over London using only his Kung Fu hands and his master mix record decks. His vibe seeks people, making them lose control and dance through the streets of London and up to his rooftop lair. Like a master puppeteer, the wizard then fires up another master mix to create an electric Hip Hop and scratch dance war.
