Performer Biographies

Theophilous Alade Performer / Tutor

After leaving school, Theo went onto study for a Diploma in Performing Arts at City of Westminster College. He then went onto study for a National Diploma in Performing Arts at Southwark College for the following two years. Graduating from these two colleges, Theo decided to specialize in dance at LABAN where he worked with some established and up and coming dance companies and choreographers such as Michael Wallace Artistic of! Yazo Fass Theatre Company.

In his final year Theo experimented with different styles of dance and movement such as Capoeira Dance Da Liberdade with Mestre Guimba and street dance with Hakim Onibudo from Impact Dance as well as touring with Transitions Dance Company.

2003 saw Theo perform with Will Thorburn at The Studio Theatre Westminster as part of World Beats. More recently, Theo has worked with Irven Lewis Dance Company performing at Breakin’ Convention 2005. Theo’s additional achievements include having his own group called D-physics which was formed after winning a 4 by 4 street dance competition 2005, performing with Carl Campbell’s Dance Company 7 and having a work placement with Cholmondeleys and Featherstonehaugh’s. He also performed with Unlimited Wovern in Signs by Daniel Bird and with RPM Dance in Sardines by Michael Kitchen in Resolutions! 2005 and 2006.

Theo joined RHUC in August 2005.


Bonita Chan Performer / Tutor

Bonita was born in Sweden and trained in both Sweden and London receiving a BA (Hons) Dance Theatre degree at the Laban Centre for Movement and Dance in 2000. Since then she has worked and performed in Norway, Sweden, Portugal, Germany and England. And has worked with acclaimed companies such as Yolande Snaith Theatredance, Maresa von Stockert/Tilted Co and Christine de Smedt/Les Ballets C de la B, among others.

Bonita’s choreographic credits include: 3 Minute Wonder, a dance film for Channel 4, performed by Young Anjali Dance Company, and Squared for Why?Red (Sweden).

Most recently she has been performing, touring and teaching education with Bedlam Dance Company before starting work with RHUC. Bonita is an experienced improvisation and contemporary dance teacher.

Bonita joined RHUC in September ‘06.


Rose Chu Performer / Tutor

Rose trained at London Studio Centre where she performed and toured with InToTo Dance Company. After graduating with BA(Hons) Theatre Dance she joined Swiss performance company Aspara. Other projects include DV8-Living Costs at the Tate Modern, dance film project headed by Keith Tyson, street arts project with DiscoSister, Darren Johnston's 'Outre' for the Fringe Festival '06 and most recently she toured with Company Decalage 'See' during winter '06/'07.

Her commercial credits include Five Tunes commercial, BBC 'The Message' commercials, Arabian Music Awards, Sarah Brightman's 2004 world tour of 'Harem', Traffic Festival 2005 in Turin for Aphex Twin, 2-Face Idibia, Miss World 2005 opening sequence, promotions for Adidas, Motorola, BT and DFS.

Jake Nwogu Performer / Tutor

Jake Nwogu began dancing taking classes in various styles including Jazz, Harlem Tap, and Ballet before he gained a place Arts Educational Schools London. He then continued on to Central School of Ballet performing with British Gas Ballet Central in his third year.

After graduating he joined Phoenix Dance Company. Jake’s next company position was with Bawren Tavaziva touring nationally from 2001 to 2004. Jake has also worked with Irven Lewis (Concrete Jungle), Rafael Bonachela (‘Vesper’ Hip festival 2003), Michael Joseph (‘Swai’tikibuli’ The Mission 2003), Euseiba & Co (Communiqué) and Ballet Black. His teaching credits include, Random Dance Company, Tavaziva Dance Company, Paddington Arts and Phoenix Dance Company.

Jake joined RHUC in January ‘05.


Sophie Kelly Performer / Tutor

Sophie trained at Elmhurst School for dance and performing arts. Since leaving Sophie has performed with B.O.P Jazz Dance Company and went on to do hair and trade shows for Trevor Sorbie (L’Oreal), touring UK, Germany, EMI Record Events, Bafta’s after party and the Choreographers Ball. Her commercial appearances include Robbie Williams, various videos, promo’s for Ministry of Sound, Blue Ray, Hands Up, Telstar Records, Big Ange, Trippin, Bump & Grind.

She performed as the front girl on Pop World for Eric E, the Beat is Rocking and The Royal Variety Show 2006. Sophie’s theatre credits include performing with Irven Lewis Dance Theatre Company in Ignite and Untold touring UK and venues in Europe, including Global Skills, Germany.

She has worked in USA doing shows in Texas, Atlantic City. Sophie has also been dance captain in LA at the Kodak theatre in Spirit for Christmas by Gary Lloyd. On her return to UK she joined the UK tour of I cant stop loving you, Ray Charles Musical and is now delighted to be working with RHUC.
