Swan Breaks: Autumn (2007) 70 mins Full-length work

A futuristic version of Swan Lake, Swan Breaks reinvents traditional dance, theatre and music with the use of technology and storytelling.

Swan Breaks is an adapted contemporary reading of the very famous classical ballet Swan Lake. Interpreted by hip hop performers and musicians the story is told with the fusion of contemporary dance.

Outline:
Jumping 200 years into the future, Swan Breaks conveys to the audience a psychedelic hip hop love story of love and betrayal, brought to life by a humanoid race living in a new metropolis of techno abstraction.

Using RHUC’s unpredictability and rye humour in dance and multi media staging DJ/Producer Billy Biznizz will provide a futuristic music score reflecting on the subject of human evolution. If technology broadens our lives does it suppress our emotions? Will love be lost as science advances?

Or will future relationships be a virtual experience as our instinctive, natural human emotions are totally disorientated by cascades of gadgets and bar codes?

A visually arresting production, fusing contemporary and street dance with Robert Hylton’s unique vision. Collaborators are DJ/producer Billy Biznizz (soundscapes and music) and award-winning guest choreographer Pervez (Live To Break)

Verse&Verses is a psychedelic take on the Hip Hop genre with leading design team AllofUS providing their signature backdrop visuals. Atmospherically charged, the concept veers towards the cinematic as a DJ opens the show, selecting his latest hot tune.

As the proverbial needle hits the groove the audience gets set for a unique experience as unbeknown to them, this is vinyl literally about to explode into life.

Verse &Verses illustrates the eternity of vinyl, the imagery reaffirming its limitless future and timeless past.

Landscapes: (Trio) Length of work 25 mins

Landscapes investigates the landscapes of inter personal relationships. The theme of this piece is modern languages, spoken and physical and danced by two men and one woman. The visual design is from leading graphics team AllofUs. Choreography by Robert Hylton, with additional choreography by the company.

Short Copy:
As society evolves through different influences our use of language constantly changes. Landscapes' is a satirical comment on the future, how we are known and who we have been. It also represents the possibilities of togetherness and harmony.

Jumping onto stage as if in a time machine. In 2005 - how did we react, perceive, communicate to one another! So what now in 50, 100 or even 200 years time?
